Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I applied for a place in this run with the thinking, wouldn’t it be great to do the Great North Run’s 40th run in my 40th year and last year serving in the RAF, . . Covid came along and ruined that plan!!

During the summer of 2020, my Sister Caroline was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, . . She underwent appointments, biopsies, drains, surgery and a 4 week hospital inpatient all by herself as visitors weren’t allowed.

Unfortunately, my brave and courageous Sister was taken from us suddenly in June this year. She was preparing to enter a clinical trial to help find a cure for this awful disease and to help others in the future. Caroline was a strong fighter and she went through everything selflessly, keeping her sense of humour to the end, it is because of her drive to help others with this disease that I decided to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer in her honour.

Hearing and seeing me train for the Great North Run, Caitlin said she wanted to run too.  On Saturday 11th September she too will be running in the Mini North Run, and help to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer in memory of her Auntie Caroline.

Thank you for reading and in anticipation of any donations no matter how small, they all go to this charity in honour of my sister, Caitlin’s Auntie, to continue her fight against this disease. X
